Eric Thiébaud 1899-1996
Eric Thiébaud passed away peacefully at home on February 3 in his 97th year. A native of Neuchâtel, Eric had founded a real estate agency in Lausanne with a friend.
In May 1946, with the purchase of Caux, we became owners of the Société immobilière de Caux. It was at that time that I asked Eric to become a member of the Board of Directors to help us with his extensive business knowledge.
He was a man of courtesy, integrity and uprightness whose advice was invaluable in the early years of Caux. In fact, in order to cope with the influx of conference participants, we bought, one after the other, the Hotel Maria in 1947, then the shares of the Regina Real Estate Company, owner of the Grand Hotel, and in 1949 the Alpina Hotel.
It was a great privilege to be involved with him in those early and amazing years of the establishment of the Caux Conference Center.
The thoughts of the entire Zig-Zag editorial team are with his daughter Marielle.
