René Vionnet XXXX-1996
When I received the last issue of Zig-Zag, published last February, a thought came to me: many of my close and distant friends do not know that my husband, René Vionnet, left us suddenly on November 17, 1996.
A fatal heart attack took him away from this land he loved so much. He died in this nature where he practiced his profession of gardener-arboriculturist and which was the source of life, of truth, of balance that nourished his personal life, his inner life and his words of philosopher.
It is a great sadness to lose the companion of common life made of fidelity and courage. This life was expanded by an openness to the world by participating in various actions of Moral Rearmament. Among others, the creation of the play "l'Echelle" of Peter Howard, in the sixties, given in the canton of Vaud and the numerous visits that followed.
The traces that René leaves are deeply inscribed, not only in the field, but in our lives and in our hearts. He understood that true healing of the body comes from the loving contact between his spirit and that of his Creator and Master. For him, this was the essential thing: to transmit his joy of life to those he met along the way. This is what allows me to pass this time of mourning with peace and gratitude.
