Anne Hamlin was born to her missionary parents, Harry and Beverly Almond, in Basra, Iraq in 1948. After living in Bahrein (where her sister Betsy Lancaster was born) and Switzerland, her parents decided to work on a full-time basis with MRA, and they soon moved back to the United States. In 1964 the Almond family returned to the Middle East, moving to Beirut, Lebanon at the invitation of local leaders. Anne finished school and went to university there, getting a BA in education.
She then joined the group traveling with the MRA produxtion “Anything To Declare” as it traveled through Asia and Oceania. Following that, she continued her work with MRA in South Africa, Brazil and then Canada, the latter after marrying Bryan Hamlin. In 1977 they settled near Boston MA, in the USA .
Together they worked with MRA in the USA, the Middle East, Russia and western Europe for more than 30 years. Anne also served from 1993-2008 on the Council of the Caux Foundation in Switzerland.
In 2001 Anne resumed her studies, got her MA in education, returned to teaching, and taught in the Boston area for 13 years. She and her husband, both now retired, still live near Boston, not too far from their two children and three grandchildren.
