Peter Thwaites, Australia, born 1942, editor, interpreter and translator. Peter graduated BA (Hons) in German and Russian from Melbourne University in 1964, with further studies in Slavonic Philology at Zűrich University 1965-1967 (Federal scholarship.) From 1967 he worked internationally as a full-time volunteer with Moral Re-Armament/Initiatives of Change, particularly in Europe and Australia. Peter was leader of the orchestra with the MRA musical revue Anything to Declare which toured Europe and Asia for 4 years. In 1973 he married Rosemary Phelps. They worked together in Germany before returning to Australia, living in Sydney for 32 years.
Peter has made 10 visits to Russia, visiting Christian dissidents and academics during and following the Soviet period. For Caux Books, he co-translated Professor Theophil Spoerri's book on Frank Buchman Dynamic out of Silence (Grosvenor books 1976), Russian philosopher Grigory Pomerants' essay The Spiritual Movement from the West (Caux Books 2004) and edited and translated Pierre Spoerri's book Frank Buchman and the Germans (Caux Books 2016).
Peter served on the Australian MRA Council of Management 1980-1996 and on the International Council of IofC from 1999-2002.
Peter and Rosemary live in Canberra. They have 3 children and 4 grandchildren.
