Footprints - some personal memories

'In the darkness of our difficulties there are stars to guide us.’

Michael Barrett was born and brought up in Scotland, and educated at the Edinburgh Academy and at Oxford University. The outbreak of World War II saw him in America, where he enlisted in the US Army Air Force, only to be posted back to Britain. Here he played a vital part in strengthening teamwork between the USAAF and the RAF.

In describing his achievements he may sometimes err on the side of reticence. But he has aimed to share these and other events in his life in a way that may help others set out on their own adventures in the years ahead.

‘In these pages I have set down experiences which have made me believe that “there is Somebody there”; that there is a hand and a planning mind behind the current perplexities of our modem world; that in spite of the follies of human nature there is a sure path for each and every one of us to find and follow.'
