Printer's Pie Made in Notts - Richard Hawthorne tells his story

Nottingham printer and community-builder tells his story.

Richard was a printer, the head of a family printing business. He tried to apply the ideas of MRA in his work, and in his community.

The title: 'Printer's pie' was the term used by compositors when their carefully composed page of type fell out of the forme accidentally - usually because the quoins hadn't been sufficiently tightened to lock the type in securely when being moved to the press. The resultant loose type was called 'pie'.
