Kirstin Channer, who passed away at 92, dedicated her life to reconciliation and forgiveness globally. Born in Copenhagen, Denmark, she joined her brother Frede in the Danish resistance against the Nazis at just 12. During World War II, she dreamed of marrying a British hero, a wish fulfilled when she married David Channer in 1956. David, a former Royal Engineer, worked with Moral Re-Armament (MRA), which sparked Kirstin’s lifelong commitment to peace.
Her journey began in 1947, traveling through war-torn Germany to a reconciliation center in Switzerland, where she formed a lasting friendship with her German roommate. As an MRA volunteer, she traveled the world, eventually settling in London in 1970, where she opened her home to people from diverse backgrounds. Kirstin hosted notable figures like Desmond Tutu and helped former militia leaders become peace advocates. She is survived by her son Alan and two granddaughters.
