Beyond Forgiving: Finalist for Africa World Documentary Film Festival

Beyond Forgiving film selected as one of the finalists for the Africa World Documentary 2014 film festival.

Beyond Forgiving was selected as one of the finalists for the Africa World Documentary 2014 film festival. Ginn Fourie and Letlapa Mphahlele MP, protagonists of the award-winning documentary film, were invited by Initiatives of Change UK and its partners to take part in a speaking tour on healing and reconciliation during May 2014.

Howard Grace, Executive Producer, says about the film, set in post-apartheid South Africa:  'Ginn and Letlapa share a belief that conciliation is the country’s hope and way forward in building bridges in a post apartheid country.'

The speaking tour allowed people around the UK to put their questions directly to Ginn and Letlapa as well as view the film (either again or for the first time). This was a national campaign with public screenings, seminars and workshop events across the country to raise awareness, with an educational outreach for peace building and reconciliation.

The Africa World Documentary Film Festival (AWDFF) is sponsored by the E. Desmond Lee Professorship in African/African American Studies. The AWDFF has as its objective the promotion of knowledge and culture of the people of Africa in a Pan-African context. Screenings took place in multiple locations across the US, Caribbean and Europe; including London from March to September 2014. In 2007, AWDFF awarded IofC's documentary film The Imam and the Pastor first prize in the category of short documentary.
