Jeanette: a love story

Auteur (s):
A love story, told with a blend of pathos, joy and humour.

Jeanette Gain, a dentist's daughter and sister of two doctors, received nursing training in London and Oxford and was a Ward Sister at the Middlesex Hospital. Then in 33 years of marriage she travelled to many lands, sometimes to exotic places. In 1984 illness, quite unexpected, pounced on her, ending her life within three months.

This little book, written by her husband, Geoffrey, tells her colourful story and also some of his own battles with grief.

'She gave her heart to the whole world,' wrote three young Laotians, refugees.

Jeanette had the art of making friends wherever she went, from Kiruna in the far north of Europe to Kerala and Colombo in Asia's south; from Richmond, Virginia to Papua New Guinea; from Durham to Delhi; from Susses to New South Wales.

This is a love story. Told with a blend of pathos, joy and humour, it is 'one of those books which expand the spirit,' says best-selling Indian author Russi M. Lala.
