All those who came to Caux will remember this helpful and jovial Neuchâtel man. He lived in Caux for a while with his wife Suzi and his son Yves. Then they moved to the family home on the shores of Lake Neuchâtel, welcoming many visitors from Caux for a meal, a tea or a few days of rest.
But very early on Luc's commitment led him to Italy, where he participated in remarkable epics, either with the dockers of Genoa, the workers of the communist suburbs of Milan or by accompanying the troupe of 'Attraverso il muro del giardino' (Through the garden wall) by Peter Howard.
Luc's relations were also very strong with Africa, where his two brothers were missionaries.
He was very involved with the Protestant chapel in Caux, serving as a liaison between conference participants and pastors in the area. Last year, his son took him to Caux for the 100th anniversary celebrations of the chapel. He was able to participate in the joyful meal organized in the premises of Caux-Expo.
His wife Suzi is full of courage, and grateful for the moments that were given to them during the last weeks of Luc's life. She had recently moved into the nursing home where her husband had been residing for some time.
Luc de Montmollin passed away on August 15, 2007.
