Karin grew up in Oxford, England with her older brother, Swedish mother and English father. Both parents worked for MRA/IofC and "this meant we have had a stream of visitors, house guests and lodgers throughout my life. Because of this, I have had the joy of making friends from all around the world who I have kept in touch with and visited when I can.
"After finishing school and a year at art school, I spent time travelling visiting friends in New Zealand, Australia and South Africa. Returning to the Uk I then spent 3 years in Bournemouth studying Fine Art and then went on to do a Montessori teacher training course. In 2011 I decided to move to Gothenburg, Sweden, where I now live and work full time. Having spent 25 years in the UK, I decided I wanted to live in my ’other’ country. It is one of the best decisions I could have made, and I am very settled here.
"I worked for 8 years in a small Montessori nursery and then went on to complete a Preschool Teaching degree. Since august 2019 I have been working as an ‘Atelierista’ (art teacher) in a large nursery with 200 children in the suburbs of Gothenburg. I spend my days with small groups of children working in creative mediums in the art room. Using art as a form of communication and exploration I hope to give children the ability to be able to communicate in more ways than just the spoken word, which is particularly important in the nursery I work in due to the high number of immigrants and children with swedish as a second language. I see on a daily basis how art and creativity can be used as a tool to explore, discover, process and communicate both on an inner level as well as with each other.
"I currently live in Hisingen, Gothenburg with my boyfriend Daniel who is a musician and entreprenör."
