Paige Lanier Chargois, BA, MDiv, DMin, is listed in the 2000 New Millennium Edition, of “Who’s Who Among International Professionals”. She is an ordained minister in Richmond, VA. With degrees in Psychology, Journalism, and Theology, serving churches as staff and pastor, her career also included adjunct faculty and university chaplain.
Having met MRA in 1983, she served 1990-2003 as the National Associate Director of Richmond’s Hope in the Cities. President Bill Clinton tapped her and her colleague Rob Corcoran to augment his “Initiative on Race: ONE AMERICA IN 2000” utilizing HIC’s dialogue guide for Americans struggling with the issues of race. She was appointed to the Commission commemorating Virginia’s Sesquicentennial of the Civil War and the ending of slavery.
Authored three books: Certain Women Called by Christ: Biblical Realities for Today (2008), The Work of the Greeter (2009) and Living a Job Faith: From Tried to Triumphant (2024), she also shared in five other books including The New York Schomburg Center For Research in Black Culture’s Standing In The Need Of Prayer, the forward written by Coretta Scott King.
“Outstanding Young Woman of America,” “A Woman In The Bethune Tradition” by the National Council of Negro Women and Style Magazine’s one of “Seven Leaders To Watch” are among her honors. Appointed to the Richmond Slave Trail Commission her efforts linked Richmond with Cotonou, Benin, and Liverpool, England, honoring our collective efforts of racial reconciliation with the stature “Reconciliation” by internationally renowned sculptor, Stephen Broadbent, now located in the heart of Richmond.
