MRA worker who played key role in Australia Sorry Day initiative
John Bond, originally from Britain, was the Secretary of the National Sorry Day Committee from 1998 until 2006, and was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia for services to Australia through the work of the Sorry Day Committee. He is now Secretary of Initiatives of Change International, which is working for healing and justice in 60 countries across the world. A writer by profession, he worked with Kim Beazley Sr, minister for education in the Whitlam government, on his memoirs. His last book was a biography of Professor Jerzy Zubrzycki of the Australian National University, widely described as the 'father of Australian multiculturalism'.
