Never to lose my vision: The Story of Bill Jaeger

Автор(ы):
An insight into Bill Jaeger and the passion for the world which motivated him.

From an early age Bill Jaeger has had a passion for social justice. This was fired by his upbringing in the hard industrial environment of Stockport, England, and his meeting with Moral Re-Armament which led him to become friend and confidant of leaders in labour and politics in many lands.

Jaeger’s skills as a team builder made possible an extraordinary outreach, and his understanding of individuals makes him at home in any company: young students, Ruhr communists, Afro-American pioneers, industrialists, and recently those taking new leadership in Russia and China. His course has not been without troubles and opposition. For a period there was misunderstanding with the ICFTU. There were differences of approach with colleagues and difficulties at home. Yet as he says, ‘I have learned never to lose my vision’ - a vision of a world where men and women of all races and classes can work together to fulfil needs and end injustice.

Clara Jaeger is American. She was born into a Quaker family of privilege in Germantown, Philadelphia. She became secretary and editor to a celebrated American author, Theodore Dreiser, in New York. ln 1946 she married her husband, Bill, with whom she has worked closely and travelled widely. She is an author, and they have one son.

Clara, in writing of her husband, has faced the challenge of being both objective and sympathetic. The result reveals an insight into Bill and the passion for the world which has motivated him.
