Through her parents, Frits and Sylvia Philips-van Lennep, Digna came into contact with the Oxford Group/MRA. In  September1944 her hometown Eindhoven was liberated by the allied forces after the final bombardment by the Germans. The family Philips was safe and united (both her parents had been imprisoned by the Germans) For Digna, then 14 years old, it was a decisive moment. She felt that she was spared for something bigger than the ordinary life of a well to do family. She married Peter Hintzen and together they initiated many conferences for young people and started the musical Sing-Out Nederland. In the seventies, Digna with many others organized family conferences, first in the Netherlands, later in Caux as well. For many years she took great responsibility for the children in Caux, making sure there was a team to look after them. Before her marriage, Digna worked for three years in Argentina.  After marrying Peter Hintzen, she went with Peter to Latin America and specially to Colombia. She paid dozens of visits and made many friends in that country.  From 1967 till 1972,  MRA was given time on national radio and TV and Digna was one of the people making these programs. Like her husband Peter, the Colombian Government awarded her Officer in the Order of Merit.
