At the funeral in the Friedenskirche in Bern on June 1, 2015, the pastor, Mrs. Murri, spoke very personally about her relationship with Gerhard. He was for many of us a gift from God. She did not get to know Gerhard until his 90th birthday, but on that visit she felt "so much wisdom, non-judgment, quiet joy, tangible love for life and for his Creator" that she visited him often to "refuel" and that he became "an example and mentor" for her.

He will also direct the French version of the play "L'Échelle" which will be performed nearly one hundred times in French-speaking Switzerland and in Caux. Later, he will stage "Return Trip" with a group of amateurs in German-speaking Switzerland. Many of the contacts he made during his 40 years of links with Caux and in actions all over the world have been maintained over the years.

In 1980 Gerhard and Elsi moved to their father's house at Knüslihubelweg in Bern where they took care of Gerhard's parents. He himself takes an active part in the life of the Heiliggeist church in Bern;

In 2012, the couple enters the Lentulus retirement home, where Gerhard creates bonds with the other residents, and it is in the medicalized section of this facility, after a long and busy life that he will be remembered by his creator.

Maya Fiaux: My visits with the Grobs at the skating rink are unforgettable. At that time, I was relatively new to the Villa Maria family and enjoyed sharing a bircher in a small apartment with friends. I could discuss my daily life in Caux and ask them all the questions about it. I could put everything on the table with Gerhard and Elsi. They simply listened to me, gave me leads I had not thought of at all, recommended me or gave me a book as a gift, which made me aware of new things. The evening when I asked Elsi and Gerhard about a marriage proposal I had received was unforgettable for me. We talked about it for a while, and then out of the blue Gerhard said, "Poor Jean ..." and after a short pause, during which all possible guesses ran through my head, he added, ",,,, to think that he had to wait all this time for your answer!" And Elsi handed me a bouquet of bellflowers with some stars.

A deep friendship was formed over the years, which continued later with visits we made together to friends in Prague.
