Paul Tournier  1898-1986

Paul Tournier died on October 7. He will remain a pioneer of a conception of medicine that has come a long way because it was a necessary counterpart to the increasingly scientific medicine that has developed over the past fifty years. The interest aroused all over the world by his book "Vivre à l'écoute" which we published with Editions de Caux, has shown us the astonishing influence of his thought. Major publishers in Germany and England immediately wanted to publish it and we have just signed a contract for an American edition. In the last few days, a letter arrived from Yugoslavia asking for permission to publish in Croatian.

Paul Tournier had broken with the Moral Rearmament just after the war by distancing himself from the effort pursued in Caux. It was a painful parting, and God alone knows the heart, but in recent years those ties have been re-established. He had written a preface to Frida Nef's book and then agreed to come back to Caux to give a lecture as part of the medical meetings.
