The scenes of "Freedom" scintillate with joy and colour and a sense of beauty - this is true both of the scene in the king's palace and the marketplace. The first was so beautiful in its colours that a great applause broke out spontaneously when the curtain went up. Seldom has there been anything more rythmical and graceful than the movements with which the King of Bokondo greeted and directed his subjects with his white feather. It was great playing of unique value which could teach a European much about Africa. It was greeted with unusually great applause. It was clear the African players knew how to speak to the heart.
