Caux meeting, 16 July 1977

A new attitude towards money.

Comments from listening editor Josephine Austad:

Overall theme of the period: How to create a new social and economic world order?

Maarten de Pous, chair: We all need money. The right use of world resources and the right distribution of wealth, the right use of our imagination. It will need courage, vision and a lot of unselfishness.'

Annelou Teixeira De Mattos is speaking as a capitalist and how she was challenged to use her money under God's guidance.

Yukihisa Fujita as a secretary to a Member of Parliament in Japan touches on a very important issue about the big sums of money that are used on banquets and entertainment at night. And then very little attention is given at the Parliament the next day.

Gro Austad shares in a simple and straight forward way how she had to learn to rely completely on God for the provision of what she needed.

Daniel Mottu, speaking on the real need of stream lining our lives. And to ask God how to use our resources.

Paul Campbell spoke at length about important issues like getting to know yourself, developing your personality, to have an aim. And to be free from hate, greed, bitterness and fear.

Original description of conference(s)
General theme of the Caux Assemblies 1977: Our generation must choose between inflation, corruption, anarchic revolts and quality of life brought about by the respect of absolute moral principles. Between selfish goals and the needs of the human community; between class warfare on a planetary scale. Between materialistic appetites and moral and spiritual development.
