Maria del Pilar Griffin (or Pily as many know her) has worked in the field of personal development for global transformation for over 20 years with the international movement Initiatives of Change.

Costa Rican by birth, married to American Fredric Griffin since 1998, she has three teenage children: Sofia, Daniela and Fredric Jose. With her work Pilar has visited many countries in Latin America, Europe, Africa and Southeast Asia. Recently, she has served on the International Council of IofC as a liaison between the global community and the Americas region. She has been deeply involved in the process of reconnection and reconciliation of different teams in Latin America, mainly Brazil.

In the early 2000s, Pilar participated in some IofC programs such as Caux Scholars and Action for Life; she then deepened the ideas of the movement by being part of the Keswick to Caux trip in 2008 to reflect on the historical moment when Frank Buchman had his initial experience of 'change' and how this impacted the world. Active member in initiatives such as YoEscucho, EuEscuto and El Encuentro XV de las Americas, creator of the global program ilisten TEENS, and author of the methodological-operational guide: Ser Humano, Energía en Transformación (Human Being, Energy in Trasnformation) a personal empowerment guide to generate a global transformation.

She has participated and supported many international forums related to peace building and the role of civil society members in the reconstruction of the world. She is a Doctor in Pedagogical Mediation, Curricularist, Administrator of Educational Centers, Teacher of Special Education and Foreign Languages, Coordinator of educational projects at national level, MA in International Law with emphasis in Human Rights with vast experience in processes of dialogue and reconciliation.
